Moss Dog

Moss dog was a Christmas present. For several years he stood up on the roof garden in London, and then he took up position in various spots around the garden, peering out from behind shrubs or loitering by a chair. His mossy fur had started to shrink, and he began to look more like the ‘the dog in the iron mask’ than a fetching feature, so yesterday I abandoned weeding and went for craft. I had already bought a large pack of dried moss, and some lurid green spray, which the shop promised was all I needed for this vital restoration project.

Moss dog came was attached by zip ties in the middle holding him together. An hour later and look at him now! His glass eyes are in need of cataract surgery, but otherwise, he is bristling with health. He was rather yellow on completion, but a bit of misting and he greened up before our eyes. The spray was so effective, that it was tempting to have a go at the dieback on the leylandii hedge, but have decided to save it all for future moss projects.

Moss dog is once more on garden patrol.
